If we can help save a few of my future friends and their mommy, daddy, and loved ones from SMA, then my life, while cut short in time, will be beyond fulfilling in stature."
As you may recall, one of Avery's Bucket List goals was to have a song written and recorded about her story. Well thanks to one of Avery's SMAns, that bucket list item can now be scratched off the list. "Avery's Song" is written & record by Randy McClellan, a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. The song is beautifully written and recorded and it truly grasps Avery's story and her message. But Randy didn't want to stop short with regard to helping Avery and her bucket list, so he's decided that 1/2 of all proceeds from downloads of "Avery's Song" will be donated towards Fight SMA to help in the further advancement of SMA awareness and research for a cure for Avery's friends!

The song is perfect, just as Avery's smile! Please, please write and let us all know how you and your wife are doing. We all love Avery but we love you two for sharing her with us! Praying for you. People keep checking your page and blog for any info on how the family is. You have made us all feel like a family working for Avery and a cure. ReplyDeleteI bought, the song yesterday, had a tear in my eye, tears of joy for being able to have known Avery through social media and got to know her story, and tears of saddnes, as she is not with us anymore,A beautiful song for a little angel..So glad happy to have it and that half the proceeds will go to SMA research to find a cure for this terrible disaease...To Mike and Laura, be strong and know this you too are so loved around the world, and thank you doesn't begin to say how I feel about you guys sharing your daughter's life with the rest of us..I feel like a better person because of it..God bless you both..with much love/friendship, Chris Poulin Kelowna BC,Canada

ReplyDeleteI found your blog shortly before little Avery passed and I haven't been able to get her out of mind since. Today I met another beautiful little girl battling SMA: Her name is Lauren. While I'm not sure exactly what her age is, I'd guess her to be around 5. I met her, her two sisters and her mother through my job. I work for a private cleaning service as a maid. My boss is a wonderful woman who reached out to this family a little over one year ago. We basically help them keep their home clean and germ free for Lauren for next to nothing. Since our business is fairly new, we can't afford to do it completely for free; my boss however, hopes that someday soon we'll be able to donate our time to families like hers who need all the extra help that they can get. Avery's blog has touched me in a way that I can not fully put into words; and today those emotions welled up inside of me when I met little Lauren. I plan to participate in the virtual run coming up and have downloaded her song as well. God bless you Laura and Mike for sharing her story to the world; and for being two of the strongest parents I've ever seen. Avery's blog is truly inspiring and I wish nothing but the best for you both.

ReplyDeleteToday, July 2, 2012's Episode of A Baby Story on TLC featured the Zynczenko Family! (@ NOON CST) They are a couple (already have two girls) whose unborn child (a boy) is suspected of having SMA. I won't "spoil" anything though it is a rerun. I just wanted you to be aware of the episode and to also know that SMA is out there. In fact, the mother requested the screening be done! The original airdate was from 2009.

Just bought Avery's song tonight and I have to say that it is a beautiful song, and fits Avery's personality. When I hear the song I can just picture Avery with her beautiful smile in my head.
